Chuck” executive producer Scott Rosenbaum has inked a two-year overall deal with the series producer Warner Bros. Television.

As part of the seven-figure pact, Rosenbaum will take over the reins of “V,” WBTV’s freshman series for ABC, as executive producer/showrunner.

“V,” which has enjoyed strong pre-launch fan interest and solid reviews, went on hiatus after shooting the first four episodes. They will start airing tonight and end with a cliffhanger before the show, a reimagination of the 1980s mini-series, returns in the spring.

Rosenbaum, who is still on “Chuck,” will make the transition to “V” later this month.

Scott Peters, who ran “V” for the first episodes, will continue as executive producer alongside Jason Hall, while another executive producer, Jeff Bell, is expected to depart.

“V” is scheduled to resume production in January.

Rosenbaum, who also worked on FX’s “The Shield,” is repped by UTA.

Good news comes in two for “Chuck” superfans. After NBC has confirmed that it is adding six more episodes to the order, Zachary Levi who plays the titular character posted an on-set picture that reveals him as a director.

“On the set directing my first episode of television. Guess which show it is. :),” the actor teased on his Twitter post. Words about him directing an episode have actually circulated two weeks ago with the rumor that the episode he will be directing is called “Chuck Versus the Beard” aka the ninth episode of the third season.

In an interview with several journalists, Levi once said that he got a warm up to direct the “Chuck” episode from a short film called “The Chase”. The one-minute short was featured during “The Biggest Loser” episode on October 13. He said, “NBC brought the idea up and I wanted to use it as practice for directing Chuck. Hiring the crew from Chuck helped us accomplish a lot in a few days.”

Just a few hours before he tagged a photo where his name is written across the director’s seat, Levi included a photo of him with guest star Kristin Kreuk. The former “Smallville” actress will make an appearance in the fifth episode called “Chuck Versus First Class” as Hannah, a Buy More employee whom Chuck meets during a flight.

“Chuck” is scheduled to premiere the third season in March 2010 after the Winter Olympics. However, with the additional episodes order comes a speculation that NBC will shift it to January.

‘Chuck’ May Come in January 2010

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Chuck” die-hard fans’ dream is coming together as NBC put down the order for more episodes in season 3. The Peacock has increased the number by six episodes from the initial 13 to 19. Now that it has been expanded, there is bigger chance that it will be put in January 2010 premiere.

The good news came with a bad one especially for the fans of new drama “Trauma”. NBC will not extend the medical series beyond the 13 episodes order. The show indeed had been struggling with rating since its debut episode in September, being a not-so-stellar follow up to “Heroes” on Mondays.

Apart from determining the fate of “Chuck” and “Trauma”, NBC has earlier landed the ones for “Community“, “Mercy” and “Parks and Recreation“. All the relatively new shows are getting a full-season pickup.

Meanwhile, over at ABC, “Scrubs” is getting a progress. The revamped version which ditches the hospital setting and introduces a new set of cast will return to the network on December 1, taking the Tuesday nights slot at 9/8c. It’s pair “Better Off Ted” will debut a week later on December 8.

Chuck - Moving to Thursdays 8pm?

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

NBC.com has a new banner somewhat confusingly announcing Chuck will air on Thursdays at 7/8 Central (instead of 8/7 Central as would be typical), but there’s no mention of when that will start.

Is NBC about to dump Community and Parks & Recreation? Or is it just a mistake?

Chuck - NBC May Move Up Premiere Early

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

It’s good news (for me), bad news (for NBC): Since its numbers are down and its new and returning shows are mainly DOA (Southland was axed before new episodes even aired!), Chuck’s third season might get to premiere sooner than the March date that’s been bandied about thus far.

“How much sooner” you ask?

As early as late October, my moles tell me. And while it remains unclear whether the little show that could (and has and shall again) would return to its Monday timeslot or find itself a new perch, NBC insiders who’ve seen the first four episodes are calling this season the best yet.

But wait, there’s more. If Chuck does come back sooner rather than later, the chances of NBC ordering additional episodes beyond the 13 it initially commissioned increases dramatically.

There’s a good end coming out of “Southland” cancellation after all. Since the show will be out of the schedule on Fridays, there is a chance that another show will be bumped to complete NBC’s line-up this season. One show which EW mentioned is the fan favorite “Chuck“.

The comedy starring Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski in fact had gone into production in August although NBC put it for March 2010 premiere. “We will be ready to come back whenever we’re asked to come back,” actor Vik Sahay said in June. At least four episodes have been completed and NBC insiders who have seen them said that this is the best season yet.

However, whether or not “Chuck” will come back to its Monday slot, it is yet to be found out. Nevertheless, EW said that should it perform well then NBC may increase the initial 13 episodes order.

After nearly canceled this midseason, there have been clearly some efforts from the team of “Chuck” to make the show worth watching. They have tapped two guest stars to appear in the third season, namely Brandon Routh and Kristin Kreuk. The former will be a new spy specializing in The Ring while the latter will be a new love interest for Chuck named Hannah.

Meanwhile, “Southland” which has not even aired a single episode of its second season, reportedly is being pitched to TNT.

Armand Assante to Guest Star on Chuck

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

As with any Chuck article these days, allow us to preface the following with the unfortunate news that the NBC show won’t return until March. When it does, however, an Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner will guest star for at least one episode.

Armand Assante will portray a foreign dictator that Casey has unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate multiple times. On the small screen, Assante was most recently seen in October Road and NCIS.

Chuck - Vinnie Jones to Guest

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Vinnie Jones is making a foray into series television with two projects.

The British actor is attached to star in a hourlong series for Alex Cole’s Elevate Entertainment and Jay Firestone’s Canadian production company Prodigy Pictures.

Additionally, Jones has been tapped to guest star on NBC’s dramedy “Chuck,” where he will play Karl Stromberg, an expert hit man with a soft side.

The untitled new series, based on an upcoming comic book series by Howard Chaykin, centers on Jake Noble, an international spy who teams with his long-lost daughters he never knew existed.

“I never really thought of TV before as a medium for me,” Jones said. “However, with it becoming such a source of creativity these days, and this project with its modern James Bond style and feeling to it, I couldn’t resist.”

Elevate and Prodigy plan to produce 22 episodes independently at a budget of about $2 million an episode. The project, executive produced by Cole, Firestone, Jenny Wood and Seth Howard, will be presented next month in Cannes at the MIP confab.

The series is one of eight projects in the works at recently launched management/production company Elevate. Prodigy recently produced the miniseries “XIII” for NBC.

Captain Awesome is in danger of becoming Captain Deadasadoornail if this latest Chuck casting scoop is any indication: Ex-Law & Order ADA Angie Harmon has signed on to guest star in this season’s fourth episode as Sydney, a spy for the Ring who wants to whack Ryan McPartlin’s awe-obsessed alter ego.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it three times in the past week: NBC, please don’t make us wait until March for new Chuck episodes. I’ll do anything you want. I’ll even forgive you for Knight Rider. And Coupling. Just name your price.
